one of my favorite movies is The Family Stone.
not an easy movie to watch
but a good movie to see.
towards the end, diane keaton says
"it's snowing"
with such wonder, and encouragement.
a line in a movie delivered so poignantly-you almost believe that the snow will fall down where-ever you are.
no snow in heidelberg yet.
snow everywhere else in germany
but not here,
not yet,
not for us.
until-a few hours ago
it got cold enough
cold enough for the rain to turn into something else...
much awaited snow!
i caught myself saying
"it's snowing"
wistful, wishing, wonder.
it didn't stick; on the ground, but in my heart, snow was everywhere-
in my heart where the holidays are equated with
severe snowfall
crunchy walks
runny noses
sparkling ice around streetlights
bundling up and
coming back in peeling wet clothes off
throwing them on radiators to dry-
until the next time...
when you say
"it's snowing."
the snow is there-for real-
and the magic begins
